Am 10. November 2006 veröffentlichten Depeche Mode das erstes Best-Of-Album ihrer Bandgeschichte. Die Compilation richtet sich in erster Linie an Gelegenheitshörer und jüngere Fans, die Depeche Mode noch nicht so gut kennen und die nicht sämtliche Alben und Singles-Collections im Regal stehen haben. Auf diese CD hat die DM-Gemeinde schon lange gewartet. Und mit "Best Of Volume 1" erfüllen Depeche Mode sicher alle Erwartungen eines Hit-Samplers. Nach 25 Jahren Erfolgskarriere hat das Trio aus den Studioalben, die zwische 1981 und 2005 erschienen sind, insgesamt 17 unvergessliche Ohrwürmer ausgewählt. Und als Bonbon dazu gibt es die brandneue Single „Martyr“, die mit ihren zerrigen Melodiebögen hitverdächtig ist. Genau diese Mischung machte aus Dave Gahan, Andy "Fletch" Fletcher und Martin Gore eine der wichtigsten Elektronikbands unserer Zeit: simple, eingängige Melodien zu Elektroniksounds, mal als sparsame Rockabilly-Rhyhtmen („Personal Jesus“), fröhliches Casiogeklimper („Just Can't Get Enough“), nostalgische Beach-Boys-Chöre - auf der frühen Single „Shake The Disease“- schräger Techno („Suffer Well“). Und dazu gibt es natürlich die ganz großen Klassiker wie „Everything Counts“, „Strangelove“, „People Are People“ oder „Master And Servant“. Best of Vol. 1 gibt es in zwei Versionen, also auch als Special Edition mit DVD, auf der die Video-Clips der Best Of-Tracks vereint sind. |
